US data center firm DC Blox has confirmed Meta’s new US-Spain Anjana cable is to land at its new Myrtle Beach cable landing station (CLS) in South Carolina.
DC Blox has been contracted for a second subsea optical communications cable to land at its CLS in the International Technology and Aerospace Park (iTAP) in Myrtle Beach. The newly-built CLS is set for completion in June 2023.
Meta, through its Edge Cable Holdings subsidiary, filed with the FCC for the new private cable system earlier this month. The company is yet to comment on the project.
DC Blox said Edge Cable Holdings USA, LLC will be landing its Anjana subsea cable at the CLS. The 7,121km cable will connect Myrtle Beach to Santander in Spain and offer 480 Terabits per second of data capacity. The laying is set to start in August 2023 for a 2024 go-live date.
In Spain, the NEC-built cable is set to land at a new Telxius-owned CLS in Santander, Cantabria. It is set to be the highest-capacity subsea cable in the world; Google’s 340Tbps UK-US Grace Hopper cable currently holds the record.

DC Blox broke ground on the 15MW CLS in October 2022. Horry County’s Myrtle Beach currently doesn't have any cable landing stations, but at least two other cables are due to land there in the near future.
Announced in 2021, Google’s Firmina cable will run from South Carolina in the US to Las Toninas, Argentina, with additional landings in Praia Grande, Brazil, and Punta del Este, Uruguay. The 12-fiber pair cable is named after Brazilian novelist Maria Firmina dos Reis. It is due to launch in 2023.
Confluence 1, from Confluence Networks, will span the US eastern seaboard and run from Sunny Isles, Florida, to Wall Township, New Jersey. It is also due to go live in 2023; both cables are being supplied by Subcom.
Anjana is a type of fairy from Cantabrian mythology that walk forests and rest by streams and springs. The Cantabri were a pre-Roman Celtic people of the north coastal region of Iberia. Añjanā is also the name of a Hindu deity.
