Cryptomine data center developer Dataprana has announced two separate purchases of Bitcoin mining rigs totalling $15 million from specialist tech companies Bitmain and MicroBT.

As per announcements made on September 9 and 10, Dataprana has purchased 3,000 Antminer S21 Immersion units from Bitmain, and 1,280 M66S rigs from MicroBT, for $10m and $5m, respectively.

Dataprana noted that the mining machines will be hosted at its facility in the United States - that being its flagship site in Houston, Texas, which was launched in late July. The company originally announced plans to build out the Houston site around a year ago.

The cryptomine site in Houston, near La Marque, was announced in July as hosting 30MW worth of mining capacity.

In the most recent announcements, Dataprana noted that the Bitmain Antminer S21s would be allocated toward 20MW of mining capacity across 20 mining containers. Meanwhile, the M66S rigs from MicroBT would account for 10MW of its Texas facility’s hosting capacity.

Given that Dataprana stated the Texas site already hosted 5,000 Antminer machines when it launched in July of this year, it is unclear whether the new machines are set to replace the old machines or to add to them.

The company also drew attention to the newly launched Prana Energy division, which the company states will focus on “land and energy acquisitions for the purpose of data infrastructure and other load-intensive project development.”

The company also stated that future projects would include the development of “high-performance artificial intelligence (AI) data centers, which will be built to accommodate the latest Nvidia GPUs and designed to meet the demanding requirements of modern AI and ML applications.”

Arseniy Grusha, co-founder and CEO of Dataprana, lauded the company’s ongoing business partnership with Bitmain and MicroBT, and mentioned the possibility of future deals.
