Cypriot telco Cyta has bought a data center on the island nation.
The company this week announced it has signed an agreement for the acquisition of the RedMax data center in the Latsia Industrial Area. Terms of the deal were not shared.
Latsia is a municipality on the southeast outskirts of Nicosia.
RedMax is a Cypriot IT and telecoms firm founded in 2004. It launched the first phase of its RedOne data center in December 2025.
Located at 193 Giannou Kranidioti Avenue, RedOne totals 1,300 sqm (13,993 sq ft) of white space with a capacity of up to 420 racks. It includes air cooling at densities up to 7kW.
The facility is powered by an on-premise 2MW substation and includes 640kWp solar PV with battery storage.
Cyta will be expanding the facility, with the first phase of the new infrastructure going live in early 2027. Upon completion, the company said the facility will be the largest privately owned data center in Cyprus.
Founded in 1955, state-owned Cyta’s offerings include fiber optic networks and island-wide 5G deployments. The company also owns and operates subsea cables and cable landing stations.
The firm acquired a 1MW data center in Larnaca from Simplex last year. It also operates a facility in Nicosia.
