CoreWeave has reached a chip-deployment milestone at its data center in Denton, Texas.

According to a report from The Information and citing internal communications, the neocloud has now successfully deployed more than 16,000 GPUs at the facility.

In addition, the publication identifies the data center in question as being developed for OpenAI, the same facility that was "delayed" in the company's last quarter.

In CoreWeave's November 2025 earnings call, the company revealed that one of its data center projects had been delayed due to the unnamed third-party developer being behind schedule. While none of the parties were named, nor was a location revealed, CoreWeave was keen to emphasise that the end-user had agreed to shift the dates of its contract and thus no revenue would be lost as a result.

The Information, however, now reports that the data center in question was CoreWeave's Denton facility under development for OpenAI.

Internal Slack messages seen by the publication noted that the chip deployment at the site had been managed "under intense spotlight." CoreWeave executives - specifically CTO Peter Salanki, COO Sachin Jain, and SVP of engineering Chen Goldberg - added: "The last several months tested us in ways few companies ever experience. There were setbacks from partners and factors outside our control.”

In November, the facility was said to have just "a few racks delivered," but by the end of December had more than 16,000 GPUs, and in one day had brought more than 2,000 GPUs online.

While The Information did not state which data center partner is behind the Denton site, CoreWeave is known to be leasing capacity from a Core Scientific data center in the Texas city. DCD has contacted Core Scientific for clarification.

Core Scientific's Denton data center campus is undergoing a major refurbishment, with the company revealing in November 2024 that it was planning to spend some $6.1bn on converting the campus from a cryptomining facility to an AI data center.

OpenAI has signed multi-billion-dollar capacity contracts with CoreWeave, most recently expanding its relationship in September 2025, bringing the total value up to $22.4bn.
