Core Scientific has completed its acquisition of Polaris DS.

The acquisition was undertaken to enable Core Scientific to expand a data center campus in Muskogee, Oklahoma, which it was already developing.

With plans first announced in May 2026, the acquisition has given Core Scientific approximately 440MW of grid-connected power capacity that Polaris was using under existing electric service agreements with Oklahoma Gas & Electric.

It has also gained 40 acres of land under the deal, which had a cash value of $444 million.

Polaris was using the power capacity at the site for its bitcoin mining operations.

With the acquisition completed, Core Scientific can progress with its plans to expand its adjacent Muskogee campus to 1.5GW of gross power and 1GW of leasable power through a combination of grid connections and behind-the-meter solutions.

“The Polaris acquisition is another example of how we are strategically expanding our power portfolio to support our long-term growth,” said Adam Sullivan, CEO of Core Scientific. “Through site acquisitions this year, we have added more than 600MW of leasable power to our portfolio, while continuing to further scale our campuses.”

Core Scientific says that it is currently on track to deliver the next 82MW of capacity at the site to an unnamed customer beginning in the second half of 2027.

The first 70MW data center building was set to be handed over to CoreWeave in Q2 2026.

Founded in 2017, Core Scientific began as a cryptomining data center operator, but has now pivoted to AI data center development. The company has facilities across Alabama, Georgia (x2), Kentucky, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oklahoma, and Texas (x3).

The Muskogee City-County Port Authority first announced a partnership with Core Scientific for a 500MW blockchain & crypto mine data center at the Port of Muskogee John T. Griffin Industrial Park back in April 2022.

Polaris announced plans to develop a cryptomine on a 42-acre site at 4800 S 24th St W in the John T. Griffin Industrial Park in Muskogee in 2024.
