Digital infrastructure and technology provider Cirion Technologies is going to build a 20MW data center in Santiago, Chile.
Known as SAN2, the facility will be the company’s second data center in the country and is expected to be ready for use in early 2025.
The data center will be located at a 23,000 sqm (248,000 sq ft) site in the Quilicura industrial district of the city, around 2.5 km from the company's existing data center, to which it will have a direct connection.

The location will enable SAN2 to access renewable energy, the local metropolitan fiber routes, and is close to the submarine cable networks. The data center will be integrated into Cirion’s carrier-neutral platform consisting of 18 data centers across Latin America.
Backed by the Stonepeak investment firm, Cirion acquired the land for SAN2 in August 2022 and originally planned to launch a facility in mid-2023. Plans for SAN2 were then shared in April this year when the company announced it was planning three new data centers across Latin America, including Santiago, Chile; Lima, Peru; and Sao Paulo in Brazil.
The company began construction work on the Peru data center in June 2023. This facility is also expected to offer 20MW of capacity.
Cirion operates 18 data centers across Latin America – in Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Peru, Ecuador, Venezuela, Colombia, and Chile – with a capacity of around 40MW, as well as a number of land stations and thousands of kilometers of fiber.
