Chloride Power Protection was recently commissioned by M&E; contractor Lorne Stewart to provide critical back up power for the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency's (DVLA) two new datacenters at in Swansea.
Three Chloride 90-NET 500KVA UPS modules have been installed at the first new datacenter on the site of the DVLA headquarters. Working in modular parallel redundant mode these have been selected with 20 minute batteries to match the load requirements and interface with the existing systems. The Agency's second new datacenter has the same 90-NET 500KVA UPS units, but here Chloride has also supplied a new 2.5MVA prime rated diesel generator system, complete with 24,000 liter capacity bunded bulk fuel tank. Due to space restrictions this system has been custom-designed to fit into a 12 meter enclosure.
Ian Hirst, Chloride projects manager comments: "Our expertise as specialists in the design and selection of UPS and Diesel generators, enabled us to work closely with the consultant WSP and Lorne Stewart to determine the optimum critical power protection solutions for both sites.
Both the UPS and generator systems can be linked to Chloride's LIFE.net remote service monitoring systems.
