Set on 1.5 hectares in the Central Taiwan Science Park (CTSP) Huwei Park, Huwei Township, Yunlin County, the facility is set to total 16MW across 3,335 sqm (35,897 sq ft). The data center is set to support both air-cooled and water-cooled cooling solutions.

The total investment for this project is approximately NT$3.3 billion (US$101m).

Official operations are expected in the second half of 2028.

In an August update, Chief said it had letters of intent (LOIs) signed by prospective clients exceeding 50 percent of the site’s available capacity.

Established in 1991, Chief Telecom is primarily a data center operator, with four data centers in Taipei, Taiwan’s capital. It is owned by Taiwan telecoms giant Chunghwa Telecom, and also operates cloud and networking services. The company runs the Taipei Internet eXchange (TPIX).

Chief launched its Liyuan 2 (LY2) facility in late 2024. The 20MW site totals 160,000 sq ft (14,865 sqm) of floor space across seven floors. The site reportedly offers 10-150kW per rack, supporting air and liquid cooling.
