Chetan Kapoor has left Amazon Web Services (AWS) after nearly eight years at the cloud provider.
Kapoor was most recently the director, product management, at Amazon EC2, the company's core 'Elastic Compute Cloud' service.
"I'm so grateful for the opportunity to be part of the AWS rocketship and for getting to work with all the amazing talented, and passionate people," Kapoor said on LinkedIn.
"My experience was extremely gratifying and, looking back, what we were able to deliver for our customers while helping the business grow several folds, is nothing short of extraordinary!"
Kapoor did not disclose where he plans to move to next, but said that he was "thrilled to be embarking on the next professional chapter."
Most recently, Kapoor was particularly involved in helping AWS transition its data centers to support larger AI workloads.
“Instead of packing in a lot of compute into a single rack, what we're trying to do is to build infrastructure that is scalable and deployable across multiple regions, and is as power-efficient as possible,” Kapoor told DCD last year.
“If you're trying to densely pack a lot of these servers, the cost is going to go up, because you'll have to come up with really expensive solutions to actually cool it.”
Kapoor's departure comes the same week as that of AWS CEO Adam Selipsky. As of June 3, former sales head Matt Garman will take over the cloud division. He was previously the director of Amazon EC2.
