US data center firm Centra has appointed former CyrusOne executive Robert Crespi as CEO.
Crespi founded data center provider Cervalis, which was bought up by CyrusOne in 2015. Crespi then worked his way up through CyrusOne, and was most recently a senior vice president of portfolio management.
"Very few people know how to build a company from nothing and also run one at real scale,” said Bill Cook, executive chairman of Centra. “Bob’s done both. He built Cervalis into something CyrusOne wanted to own, then ran the interconnection and asset side of CyrusOne itself as it became one of the largest platforms in the world."
Previously known as Deep Edge, Centra has been expanding its data center footprint. The company topped out a 4.4MW facility called RNO2 in May, and broke ground on a 12MW data center redevelopment in Minneapolis, Minnesota, in August 2025.
Centra was also tapped as the developer of 300MW worth of data center assets backed by private equity firm HighBrook Investors.
Backed by venture capital firm Columbia Capital, Centra also secured $230 million in funding in May.
