Carter Validus Mission Critical REIT has acquired the Infocrossing Data Center property in Leonia, New Jersey.
The colocation data center measures about 67,000 sq ft, including more than 25,000 sq ft of raised floor. It is 100% leased to Infocrossing, a wholly owned subsidiary of Wipro, a multinational IT consulting and outsourcing company based in India.
John Carter, CEO of Carter Validus said, “We’re pleased to add an asset of this quality in an important data center market like New York City and continue to add to our portfolio of mission critical assets.”
Carter Validus collaborated with data center developer and operator Server Farm Realty in the purchase.
This is the most recent in a string of data center acqusitions the REIT (real estate investment trust) has made over the past few years. This deal was preceded by the acquisition of a four-tenant data center in Raleigh, North Carolina, in March.
In 2012, Carter Validus bought two data centers in Texas, two in Georgia and one in Michigan. As of the end of 2012, its investment portfolio, which also includes hospitals, totaled US$417.6m.
It started in 2011 with a $29m acquisition of a data center in Richardson, Texas.
