BT has extended its 10G Ethernet fiber footprint and opened three further data center Points of Presence (PoPs) across the UK.

The PoPs are located in Equinix’s LD5 data center in Slough, TelecityGroup’s Joule House facility in Manchester and a point in Leeds. The PoPs make it easier for BT’s wholesale customers to make Ethernet connections into its core network at a lower cost.

BT began the PoP roll out earlier in the year deploying PoPs in Telehouse Europe North, the Global Switch1 data center in London and NGD’s Newport facility.

BT Wholesale’s general manager, TDM data, Ethernet & optical product management Paul Beacham said the PoPs are part of a wide investment in BT’s Ethernet footprint across the UK.

BT said it will extend its next-gen optical network into a number of data center locations next year.
