The Brazilian Army has set up a new modular data center in São Paulo.

First reported by Baguete, the new facility was developed using solutions from Envolve Ambientes Seguros - a national company specializing in protected environments, safe rooms, and containers for data centers - and Planeje Tecnologia, which focuses on customized digital infrastructure projects.

Envolve Ambientes Seguros was responsible for installing a modular safe room with an area of 112 sqm (1,205 sq ft), designed with advanced protection features.

Called the 3rd Area Telematics Centre (3rd CTA), the modernized infrastructure corresponds to a unit dedicated to managing critical information for national defense, including logistical and strategic components.

The technological base previously used had been in operation for more than three decades and had limitations that compromised the security and availability of stored data.

Previously, the data center had significant vulnerabilities without adequate protection mechanisms against power outages or physical threats. With modernization, the Brazilian Army now has infrastructure in line with the highest international standards of security and resilience, including the ability to withstand direct exposure to fire for up to six hours and high-intensity attacks, according to Antonio Olivieri, technical director of Envolve Ambientes Seguros.

The new structure is said to be resistant to fire, attempted break-ins, water jets, physical impacts, and has electromagnetic shielding, guaranteeing high standards of physical and operational security.

Planeje Tecnologia was responsible for integrating the critical subsystems needed for the environment's continuous operation. This phase involved the implementation of medium and low voltage substations, air conditioning systems, generators with an energy autonomy of up to 12 hours, UPS systems, and a structured cabling network made up of more than a thousand fiber optic and metallic cabling points.
