Blockchain venture company Blockmate Ventures is set to enter the neocloud market, having partnered with Scannit for the purchase of eight Nvidia B200 GPUs.

Under the terms of the deal, Blockmate will own the hardware, while Scannit will operate and sell the compute from an undisclosed US-based data center.

Blockmate said the GPUs had a purchase price of $635,000, including shipping, data center setup, installation, network connectivity, and onboarding. The acquisition will be funded through a combination of Blockmate's existing cash resources and debt financing, with the blockchain company set to receive the majority of the gross revenue generated by the cluster.

Delivery of the GPUs is slated for Q1 2027, subject to vendor timing and Nvidia allocation. Following delivery, the hardware is expected to be installed, tested, and made available to commercial customers within one week.

In a statement, Blockmate said that, depending on the success of this new business model, it will evaluate future deployments, including larger clusters and future Nvidia hardware generations.

"This is Blockmate's first direct step into the AI neocloud market. We will own the Nvidia hardware, while Scannit provides the specialist infrastructure, operations and customer relationships required to keep that compute working,” said Domenic Carosa, founder and chairman of Blockmate.

"We are deliberately starting with one node. The objective is to get it online, generate revenue and build real operating data around utilization, pricing and costs. Based on the economics we are seeing today, we believe the initial capital invested in the node has the potential to be recovered in approximately two years, although actual results will depend on utilization, market pricing and operating costs."

Founded in 2010 as Midpoint Holdings, the blockchain company rebranded to Blockmate in 2022, focusing on AI, Bitcoin, and digital infrastructure. In June 2025, Blockmate announced the launch of its dedicated Bitcoin mining business, called Blockmate Mining, with the subsidiary targeting up to 200MW of mining capacity in Wyoming as part of a long-term Bitcoin holding strategy.

In a statement announcing the purchase of the B200s, Blockmate said it is continuing to advance its Wyoming AI data center development, with the 200MW of capacity, “subject to zoning, power availability, engineering, permitting, and other development requirements.”
