Mistral and Humain are teaming up to bring sovereign AI compute to Saudi Arabia and the Middle East.
Under the partnership, Mistral will 'explore' using Humain's data center infrastructure in the region, and the two will work on AI models focusing on cybersecurity and voice.
The agreement is valued in the "hundreds of millions of Euros."
Humain and Mistral will also develop a go-to-market strategy in Saudi Arabia to offer AI solutions to regulated industries and will ensure that the offerings meet sovereignty requirements.
Humain is a state-backed AI venture in Saudi Arabia. The company is building major data center facilities in Riyadh and Dammam, which were expected to go live in Q2 2026, though no updates have been provided as yet. These sites will have an initial capacity of 100MW each as part of Humain’s plan to reach approximately 6GW of data center capacity over the next decade.
The company has also said it owns some 211 plots of land across Saudi Arabia for its data center expansion.
Mistral is a European AI lab. The company signed an agreement with Microsoft in July to expand AI infrastructure in Europe. That partnership would see Microsoft investing multiple billions of dollars in AI infrastructure across the continent, which would be shared with Mistral.
In June, Mistral announced plans to offer AI cloud services to customers, and previously stated that it hopes to control 200MW of compute capacity across Europe by the end of 2027.
The company raised $830 million in debt financing to fund the purchase of GPUs for its planned data center outside Paris in March 2026, and has signed on for capacity from Digital Realty in the city.
