Renewable energy firm Beltline Energy has withdrawn its proposal to rezone a land parcel for the construction of a data center in the City of Pacific, Missouri.

“Today, our office received an email regarding the withdrawal of the rezoning application from BLE Landholdings,” reads a statement posted by Pacific Mayor, Debbie Kelley, on Friday, August 7, 2026.

BLE Landholdings is a subsidiary of Beltline Energy.

“I want to make it unequivocally clear that should a formal request ever be presented in the future, it will be brought directly before us as a community so that we can go over and evaluate it openly together before any decisions are made.”

The $16 billion proposal concerned a 500-acre property at Highway O and Pheland Road (684) owned by Linda and William McLaren, as well as the Alt Property on Denton Road.

Two days prior to the withdrawal, the city of Pacific passed a one-year data center moratorium that prevented the acceptance of applications related to the “development, zoning, permitting, or use of property for data centers.”

Opposition to the data center expressed concern about the facility’s environmental impact and highlighted a potential conflict of interest given that William McLaren was a member of the Franklin County Planning and Zoning Commission at the time of the application. His re-appointment to the commission was tabled back in February of this year.

Franklin County includes the City of Pacific.

Beltline Energy is also eyeing a 400-acre data center project in Luther, Oklahoma.
