Amazon Web Services (AWS) operated a total of 56.839 million square feet (5.28m sqm) of data center and office space in 2025.

The company owned some 28.37 million sq ft (2.64m sqm) and leased another 28.469m sq ft (2.64m sqm), it revealed in its 10-K filing.

The combined figure represents a 16 percent increase over 2024. That year was a 28 percent increase over 2023, which saw a 14 percent increase over 2022, itself a 28 percent jump over 2021.

2021 was the largest percentage yearly increase in footprint since the company began reporting, with a 44 percent jump over 2020's 18.1m sq ft.

The filing does not disclose how much of the 56.8m sq ft is data center white space, rather than all the other additional parts of data center, sales, and other property. It does not include corporate facilities or headquarters.

The company currently operates 123 Availability Zones across 39 geographic regions, with plans for seven more Availability Zones and two more AWS Regions in Saudi Arabia and Chile. The company also operates 108 Edge network locations.

In April, the world's largest cloud provider announced that it had hit $150bn in annualized revenue. AWS claimed to have a backlog of $364bn for Q1, not including the recently signed $100bn deal with Anthropic.

Across all of Amazon, including its ecommerce arm, the company expects $200 billion in capital expenditure this fiscal year.
