The Aston Martin Formula 1 Team is planning a new data center at its headquarters next to the Silverstone Race Track in Northamptonshire, UK.

In a planning application to West Northamptonshire Council, Aston Martin is seeking consultation for the demolition of a temporary modular workshop building, with the aim of replacing it with a data center.

The project will also include a bridge link as well as landscaping and associated works for the F1 team.

The data center building will span 1,400 sqm (15,080 sq ft) across two stories, and will use air handling units and external VRF refrigeration units for cooling.

According to the associated planning statement, Aston Martin is currently operating from several leasehold properties, which the company described as a " situation that we urgently need to address to increase our efficiency."

The statement adds: "The proposed development includes the construction of a data center facility, which will provide space for on-site data storage and management and support the team’s continued growth. The new building is a bespoke facility, with a layout that facilitates the data center performance requirements and associated ancillary workshop and office/meeting space."

The facility will be located close to Aston Martin's wind tunnel building, which is used for testing and simulating vehicle performance.

A decision from the council is expected by December 8, 2025.

Aston Martin is a known customer of NetApp, using the company's storage technology. Earlier this year, the team signed an agreement with CoreWeave, making the neocloud its official AI cloud partner.
