Aruba is now offering Microsoft's Azure Local solution in its data centers in Italy.

Announced via a LinkedIn post, the solution will be provided from Aruba's data centers in Bergamo near Milan, Arezzo, and Rome.

Aruba wrote of offering: "Based on a dedicated cloud infrastructure, interconnected to Azure, it is ideal for companies that operate in regulated sectors or with high compliance requirements. In a context of continuous technical and regulatory evolution, we want to be alongside companies with concrete, reliable, and customizable solutions."

It is a dedicated, single-tenant, Azure-connected infrastructure solution that companies can deploy in their data centers.

The solution was previously being posited to satisfy CISPE's antitrust complaint against Microsoft, which was settled in July 2024. However, after months of working on Azure Local and attempting to modify it to meet CISPE's needs, the two agreed that "Azure Local will not deliver the full set of features outlined in the agreement" and have thus concluded this "first phase" and will start looking for an alternative solution.

One of the main issues with the proposal was Azure Local's incompatibility with multi-tenancy.

Aruba has four data centers in Italy and one in Ktis, Czech Republic.

The company's data center near Milan spans more than 200,000 sqm (2.15m sq ft), offering 45MW of IT capacity, and the Rome campus spans 74,000 sqm (796,530 sq ft) with 30MW of capacity.
