A new data center development is being proposed in Düsseldorf, Germany.

As reported by Rheinische Post and Datacenter-Insider, a preliminary building application has been submitted for a three-story data center in the city.

The development, which will include a three-story office building and an on-site substation, is set to be located at Zaunkönigweg 8 in the north of the city. Full details, including timelines for development, haven't been shared.

The company behind the development hasn’t been named.

Düsseldorf is one of Germany’s secondary data center markets. According to Data Center Map, the city hosts some 30 data centers, putting it alongside the likes of Hamburg, Berlin, and Munich.

Operators in Düsseldorf include Digital Realty, nLighten, AtlasEdge, NorthC, Equinix, Yexio, NetMountains, WIIT, Colt, and several local players.

Frankfurt remains one of Germany and Europe’s major data center hubs, with more than 100 facilities in operation and development in the area.
