Singaporean AI-focused power infrastructure firm Amperesand has raised $80 million in its Series A funding round, co-led by Walden Catalyst Ventures and Temasek.
The funding will support the development of the company’s Medium Voltage Solid-State Transformer (MV SST) platform, which it claims delivers a fundamental leap in power density, efficiency, and scalability for AI data centers.
In addition, the investment will support the deployment of 30MW of commercial systems in 2026 with a special focus on hyperscale AI customers. To facilitate the deliveries, Amperesand is expanding its engineering and manufacturing operations in the US and Singapore.
“Amperesand is obsessed with revolutionizing Medium Voltage to critical load power delivery for next generation AI data centers, defense, and other essential electrified assets. We focus on first principles to achieve market-leading power density, efficiency, and reliability,” said Brian Dow, CEO and co-founder of Amperesand.
The first deliveries of the system will be to the Port of Singapore, supporting a mission-critical charging pilot with PSA International.
Other investors in the funding round included Industry Ventures, Acclimate Ventures, and SG Growth Capital, alongside continued participation from Xora Innovation, Material Impact, TDK Ventures, and Foothill Ventures.
Transformers are found in substations and on electricity poles, where they step down the voltage of electricity for the next stage of distribution. Replacing them with SSTs would allow new options, including fast-charging for EVs at more locations.
Singapore-headquartered Amperesand emerged from Xora Innovation’s venture program after being spun out of Singapore’s Nanyang Technological University in 2023. The company has moved through early validation, completing full-power, overload, and bidirectional tests of its second-generation system in 2024, laying the groundwork for a commercial medium-voltage SST platform.
Following this, in February of last year, the company secured $12.5m in funding.
In 2025, the company increased its presence in the US market, building out engineering operations in San Francisco and adding an advanced manufacturing site in Reno in preparation for broader market deployment.
