Amazon Web Services (AWS) has reportedly cut hundreds of jobs.

As reported by Reuters and citing two sources, the job cuts follow just a month after CEO Andy Jassy said that generative AI tools would reduce the workforce.

Amazon has confirmed the cuts, although it has not provided details on the exact number.

“We’ve made the difficult business decision to eliminate some roles across particular teams in AWS,” the Amazon spokesperson said via email to Reuters. “These decisions are necessary as we continue to invest, hire, and optimize resources to deliver innovation for our customers.”

Reuters reports that the “specialists” team, which works with customers to create new product ideas and sell existing ones, is among the teams affected, though Amazon has said this extends to several groups in the cloud unit.

Amazon’s most recent earnings report saw its cloud department bring in $29.3 billion in Q1 2025, up 17 percent year over year.

The job cuts at AWS follow reports that Microsoft was laying off around 9,000 employees in the latest layoff round, following around 6,000 job cuts in May 2025.

Intel has also laid off around 2,400 employees in Oregon this month.
