Amazon has pledged a $10 billion investment in its upcoming data center campus in Montgomery County, Missouri.

Announced on June 15, this will also include a $3 million investment in supporting local emergency dispatches, $3m in community programs, and $1m for a new "community gathering space."

Amazon is working with the local utility, Ameren Missouri, to ensure that costs are not passed on to other ratepayers. The company has also invested in a 138MW renewable energy project in Missouri.

The data center campus, dubbed Project Green, is set for 1,000 acres in New Florence, Montgomery County, in the northeast quadrant of the Interstate 70 and Highway 19 interchange.

According to filings earlier this year, AWS is planning to develop in two phases, the first of which will see eight data center buildings constructed. The second phase could see a further 13 buildings of a similar size established.

In addition, AWS will establish multiple stormwater management ponds, three wells, and a wastewater and water treatment plant on site.

"We're building data centers that will create hundreds of new jobs, support educators and students, and strengthen local infrastructure."
