The All England Lawn Tennis Club, the host of the Wimbledon tennis tournament, has signed a multi-year contract with IBM for cloud, AI, and digital transformation services.
The new contract is a renewal of an existing partnership between the two organizations spanning some 36 years, in which IBM has provided cloud and infrastructure services, expanding to include AI in 2017.
The new agreement will focus on initiatives aiming to expand the Wimbledon event's global reach and "achieve deeper fan engagement" across Wimbledon's digital ecosystem in 2026 and beyond.
The two have previously developed various fan experiences, such as the Live Likelihood to Win and Match Chat tools, which take large amounts of data from the match and use AI capabilities from IBM WatsonX. According to IBM, these tools increased engagement across the various platforms IBM supports for the All England Lawn Tennis Club by 16 percent in 2025.
"We are delighted to have agreed a multi-year extension to our long-standing partnership with IBM," said Usama Al-Qassab, marketing & commercial director, The All England Lawn Tennis Club. "For 36 years, IBM and the All England Club have embraced innovation and created world-leading digital experiences to bring our fans closer to The Championships. As we look to attract the next generation of Wimbledon fans from around the world, the AI-powered capabilities of IBM will be key to ensuring our future digital experiences are relevant, personalised and engaging."
"The All England Club is a visionary organization, delivering one of the most globally recognisable properties in sport and broader culture. We are thrilled to continue working in lockstep as partners to serve up a world-class digital experience, driven by leading-edge data and AI technology," added Jonathan Adashek, SVP of marketing and communications, IBM. "Whether onsite at SW19 or following from any corner of the globe for years to come, hundreds of millions of tennis fans can rely on having interactive digital features, powered by watsonx, to stay connected to the beauty, drama and excitement of The Championships."
Early on in the All England Club and IBM's partnership, IBM assisted with the launch of the Wimbledon website in 1995, which to-date publicly credits IBM as its maker, and more than a decade later, with the mobile app in 2009. IBM has been enabling the club to incorporate AI tools since 2017 to date.
IBM has worked with many tennis organizations. In 2012, the French Open announced it would use a private cloud for IBM. The company has also provided technology for the US Open and the Australian Open.
