Chip designer Alchip Technologies has expanded its use of Amazon Web Services (AWS) in its semiconductor design process.

Alchip will continue to use AWS' cloud infrastructure for its semiconductor programs, from design implementation and verification through production tape-out.

“Advanced silicon development depends on secure, scalable infrastructure for complex Electronic Design Automation (EDA) workflows,” said Johnny Shen, chairman and CEO of Alchip. “By leveraging AWS’ elastic compute alongside our advanced-node expertise, we are able to accelerate development, reduce risk, and deliver consistent execution across increasingly complex silicon programs.”

Alchip uses a cloud-first approach to its workloads, though it adopts a hybrid deployment where appropriate. The AWS platform is used for compute-intensive tasks, including physical design, timing closure, verification, and power signoff, and tape-out readiness in parallel.

Details on the EC2 instance types used by Alchip, and whether the company turns to AWS' custom hardware or opts for third-party CPUs and GPUs, have not been stated.

"By running compute-intensive EDA workflows on AWS, Alchip's engineers can collaborate across geographies, accelerate design cycles, and bring next-generation AI and high-performance computing silicon to market faster."

Alchip was founded in 2003 and is headquartered in Taipei, Taiwan. The company provides HPC and AI infrastructure, ASIC IC, and packaging design. In September 2025, the company partnered with Ayar Labs to develop scalable AI infrastructure based on co-packaged optics (CPO) technology.
