A $4 billion data center project in Decatur Township, located in southwestern Indianapolis has received the go-ahead.

On Wednesday March 18, the Indianapolis Metropolitan Development Commission approved the construction of a 130-acre colocation campus at Kentucky Avenue and Camby Road.

The site was already zoned for up to six warehouse buildings totaling 1.2 million sq ft (111,483 sqm).

The campus will comprise two data center buildings totaling 900,000 sq ft (83,612 sqm) with a 10-acre electrical substation site, according to a website about the project created by the developer Sabey Data Centers set up last November.

Building A would be a single-story facility spanning 572,000 sq ft (53,140 sqm), while Building B would span 490,000 sq ft (45,522 sqm) across two stories. Groundbreaking at the site is expected in 2026, with the buildings going live in 2028 and 2030, respectively.

The site aims to offer 250MW of capacity at completion.

Sabey Data Centers is a joint venture between construction company Sabey Corporation and investment firm National Real Estate Advisors.
