Multi-plane, rail routing, and other things that look easier on a slide
Somewhere between the keynote and the RFP, a multi-plane architecture becomes a requirement. But the topology that looked elegant on a conference stage still has to survive contact with a real leaf switch rack, a real optical loss budget, and a real installation crew on a real schedule.
In this interactive luncheon, two CommScope Data Center Solutions Architects walk through the conversations they have when a customer arrives with a design they've seen somewhere else. We'll work through it live with the room: What's the end goal: applications, scale, future flexibility? What do we mean by ports versus lanes, and by mesh versus shuffle? What does multi-plane accomplish, and where do we separate and define the planes? And the question that surprises people most: can your new gear already do this without the fiber shuffle at all?
From there we get into the part nobody puts on a slide: how multi-plane is actually cabled, what rail routing constrains, and how density gets managed in the panel, across spine and switch, and through off-site integration. Bring your design questions. This one's a conversation, not a lecture.
