For decades, batteries were treated primarily as a short, duration bridge between utility
loss and generator start. That role remains mission critical, but it is no longer the whole
story.
Grid constraints, delayed utility capacity, volatile AI loads, accelerated
construction schedules and sustainability requirements are pushing battery systems
beyond passive backup and into the broader facility power architecture.
But not every battery system should perform every function. Applying the wrong
chemistry, duration, controls strategy or operating model can introduce complexity
without improving resilience.
Join MPI Energy to explore how battery requirements differ at the rack, UPS, facility and grid interface levels.
Participants will understand where BESS creates genuine operational value, and where conventional backup architecture may still be the better choice.
In the next generation of data centers, the winning architecture will match the battery,
controls and duration to the operational problem being solved.
