Historically, data center site selection was driven primarily by the availability of inexpensive land. Today, location is increasingly dictated by a “power-first” strategy, with available electricity becoming the biggest bottlenecks for development. Virginia has long been a key hub for data center development, but this trend is pushing construction into non-traditional markets.
