Panel: Is it time to rethink the measurement of data center efficiency?
This episode will be streaming on-demand.
The calculation of power usage effectiveness, popularly known in-sector as PUE, has become synonymous with the measurement and benchmarking of data center efficiency since its creation by the Green Grid in 2006. However, in recent years the drive towards sub 1.1 PUEs as a marker of sustainability and point of differentiation has blurred the lines between precision in power efficiency and the demonstration of sustainable operations leading many to ask whether the metric is still fit for purpose.
Our panellists will outline their take on the thorny issue of PUE and its current feasibility and explore how data centers can strike the balance between achieving energy efficiency whilst maintaining reliability, sustainability and minimizing CapEx and OpEx. Critically they will explore the latest in DCIM technology, and how by leveraging this software operators can develop a holistic view of their facilities to drive efficiency across the entire business.
