Panel: How can we balance data center energy consumption with the Tri-State's carbon reduction ambitions?

According to data published by the International Energy Agency, data centers around the world gobble up around 200 TWH of electricity per year, rending the sector highly energy-intensive. And, although COVID-19 brought about a 6% drop in energy-related carbon dioxide emissions last year, as the big city begins to emerge from enforced “lockdowns”, energy demand is poised to bounceback to pre-pandemic levels.

But, how are owner-operators able to both achieve 100% power reliability and reduce environmental impact? And, how will Governor Cuomo’s plan for the state to source 70% of its electricity from renewable sources by 2030 impact how power is distributed?

We ask our panellists to share how they are helping to tackle the challenge of reaching both business and sustainability goals when operating critical infrastructure across the Tri-State.
