Energy efficiency metrics for liquid cooling: PUE is dead, long live…PUE?

Well, PUE is not dead for air cooling at least, but it is universally accepted that this metric is unrepresentative of the true energy efficiency of liquid cooling systems. As the industry strives to meet sustainability targets and as liquid cooling becomes more widely adopted, it is critical for metrics to be adjusted to give an accurate measurement of a data center's carbon footprint.

This episode will ask the fundamental question, which metric is best suited to measure the energy efficiency of liquid cooling, and which variables need to be factored into the equation? With a lack of standardised practice in the market, but a clear need for a shift in PUE, how can data centers utilising liquid cooling demonstrate to their investors and customers that they are sustainable?
