ScaleMatrix, provider of colocation and private-cloud hosting services, has taken more space at the San Diego, California, campus where its current data center is located. Once built out, the 46,000 sq ft new real estate will nearly double ScaleMatrix’s footprint at the Kearny Mesa campus.

Chris Orlando, chief sales and marketing officer at ScaleMatrix, said selection of the campus was a strategic move, namely because of the space and power available there.

“We can easily grow and expand based on the demands of our clients,” he said. “Our long-term plans call for a number of expansions over the next few years.” With this expansion, “we’ve simply accelerated the timeline based on the market response we have received.”

ScaleMatrix provides a mix of colocation, managed services and hosting for private-cloud infrastructure. Its current data center at the campus measures 50,000 sq ft. The facility was launched in 2011 and was the only new-construction multitenant data center built in San Diego in more than 10 years, according to ScaleMatrix.
