NTT Communications has purchased a majority share of UK data center services provider Gyron Internet Limited.

Gyron’s managing director, Robin Balen, and operations director, Ben Miller, will retain their 15% share in the company and continue in their roles at Gyron.

NTT Communications said it plans to expand Gyron’s operations, which provide colocation and associated managed data center services to customers such as Adobe and Symantec out of a 3MW data center near London.

It is already building another two data center with a total capacity of 16MW which will be open in late 2012 and 2013.

One data center is the Ajax data center in Slough which will offer up to 56,700 sq ft of data center space.

Gyron’s Balen said NTT will help the company grow in the wholesale and retail colocation services market.

“We look forward to working with NTT Com and accelerating our expansion plans,” Balen said.

NTT said it will use the purchase to strengthen its cloud-based solutions in the UK and accelerate growth of its own global cloud services.
