Ericsson announced plans to spend 7 million Swedish Krona (US$1.15bn) on three data centers, two in Sweden and one in Canada.

Ericsson had announced in June this year its plans for constructing a 40,000 sq mt ‘ICT’ center in Vaudreuil-Dorion, Quebec.

Apart from saying the Swedish centers would be close to its R&D facilities, the company did not specify the locations.

The total floor area for the three data centers will be 120,000 sq mt suggesting a standardised approach across the three sites. Images provided suggest each site will consist of eight air cooled halls.

Details of power and cooling load and design PUE were not offered. Hans Vertberg, CEO Ericsson said: "The new ICT centers are examples of Ericsson's passion for driving the development of the industry. Great ideas come from collaboration and these centers will push the boundaries of possibility on next generation technology and services."
