Principal Research Analyst, 451 Research

As a Principal Research Analyst for 451 Research, Dan Thompson provides insight into the Multi-Tenant Datacenter (MTDC) market space. Dan is particularly focused on MTDCs that are trying to move up the stack to offer additional services beyond colocation and connectivity. These services may include disaster recovery, security, various forms of cloud and other managed services. He also assists the 451 Research Information Security group when their interests overlap.

Prior to joining 451 Research, Dan spent 15 years as a practitioner in the IT industry, the last 10 of which were spent at a top managed/cloud service provider. Dan has worn many hats in the IT world, from systems administration to management, and was most recently an enterprise architect. In that role, Dan not only assisted in the launch of the company's security practice, but also created security-specific products, and designed security into every solution launched to the customer base.

Dan has been quoted in a number of top publications including The Wall Street Journal, as well as industry-specific publications such as CyberTrend Magazine. He is a regular speaker at client and industry events and regularly appears on regional NBC affiliate stations across East Tennessee.

In addition to a good many IT industry certifications, Dan currently holds degrees in Network Security and Forensics, and Information Technology.
