PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (Telkom), through its second-tier subsidiary specializing in data center infrastructure, PT Teknologi Data Infrastruktur (NeutraDC Nxera Batam), has forged a strategic partnership with PT Medco Power Indonesia (Medco Power) to implement renewable energy for data center operations.

This collaboration was signified by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between NeutraDC Nxera Batam and Medco Power during the 1st Batam Peering Forum 2025 held in Batam, Monday, 7 July 2025.

This strategic partnership was signed by CEO of NeutraDC Nxera Batam, Indrama YM Purba, and director, chief commercial and business development officer at Medco Power, Femi Sastrena. Through this partnership, NeutraDC Nxera Batam demonstrated its commitment to building a sustainable digital hub.

Indrama YM Purba stated that as a hub for digital infrastructure, it was crucial to prioritize sustainability by leveraging renewable energy, especially amid the high energy demands of hyperscale data center infrastructure.

This commitment also forms a strategic synergy to strengthen Indonesia's digital infrastructure which is now experiencing a surge in demand for AI-related needs.

“We provide data center infrastructure that serves as an AI enabler, which requires significant energy to support AI-related needs. Through this collaboration, we remain committed to caring for the environment,” said Purba.

This collaboration aligns with Medco Power’s move in providing renewable energy by the development of solar power around Kabil Integrated Industrial Estate (KIIE).

“Collaborating with NeutraDC Nxera is a crucial move for Medco Power to play an active role in supporting digital transformation and developing renewable energy-based power plant, particularly in Batam,” stated Sastrena.

Medco Power is an Independent Power Producer (IPP) with over 20 years of experience in developing gas and renewable power plants in Indonesia.

Batam continues to grow as a data center hub with significant potential to serve as an AI enabler. The presence of NeutraDC Group’s facilities, through NeutraDC Nxera Batam, strengthens its position to develop a data center with capacity of over 60MW, designed with a green building concept.

This development of Batam’s hyperscale data center facility has been designed with a decarbonization concept. As a result, this collaboration aligns with NeutraDC’s principles in terms of renewable energy implementation.

Previously, a collaboration with Medco Power had been established by Telkom’s subsidiary focused on Indonesia’s data center industry, NeutraDC Group, through signing of an MoU in July 2023.

Thus, the collaboration between NeutraDC and Medco Power has been established from the beginning to achieve the commitment of Net Zero Emission in Indonesia.

Beyond Batam, NeutraDC also operates a data center which has implemented renewable energy located in Cikarang. As a part of TelkomGroup, NeutraDC continues to strengthen its strategic role in supporting Indonesia’s digitalization in a sustainable manner, through the presence of infrastructure solutions that enable AI, connectivity, and the commitment of Net Zero Emission.
