zColo, Zayo Group’s colocation subsidiary, is planning to expand its European presence with a data center in the UK capital.
The facility will be located in Feltham, approximately twenty miles (31km) from central London and around 11 miles (17km) from Slough, the country’s largest colocation, cloud and interconnection hub. Slough hosts service providers including Equinix, Infinity SDC, VIRTUS Data Centres and the London Internet Exchange (LINX).
London calling
Zayo offers colocation and cloud services from its own data centers, but the biggest share of its business is the provision of dark and lit fiber connectivity services to enterprise customers across the United States and Europe.
The company’s latest data center will offer 30,000 square feet (2,790 sq m) of total floor space, with a maximum capacity of 3.6MW, and will be linked into Zayo’s own fiber network, which spans 127,000 miles.
Senior vice president of Zayo’s zColo business segment, TJ Karklins, said the facility “strengthens our commitment to the UK,” perhaps in light of the country’s planned exit from the European Union, which some fear could steer business towards remaining member states.
“This facility will offer low-latency connectivity to Slough, city center, and even around central London for connection directly to France and the rest of Europe. We look forward to delivering high-compliance, network-neutral solutions from our growing European platform,” he added.
