The Omaha World Herald has reported that Yahoo has applied under the Nebraska Super Advantage program, which requires a minimum $100 million investment and 50 high-salary jobs.
A person close to the proposed project was reported by the paper as confirming in August that the state was negotiating with Yahoo to build a data center in the Omaha metropolitan area.
The new building is reported to have ample available space for expansion.
To date Yahoo's newest data center was a 140,000-square-foot complex that opened in Washington state. It was a new build which is unusual for the search engine company which normally occupies existing buildings.
