Yahoo has opened its new data center at the Confluence Technology Center in Wenatchee. The company spent US$12 million transforming CTCs third floor into a data center. In addition, Yahoo is building a larger facility in Quincy, 30 miles east of Wenatchee. The CTC is jointly owned by the port and the Chelan County PUD.
Company officials said the business-friendly environment, low-cost power, high-speed fiber-optics network, dry climate and educated work force attracted them to Chelan County.
The servers will be installed by early next year, and the center will operate around the clock.
