Reports in the local Wheeling press have outlined the city's attempts to promote itself as the ideal location to host the US$41 million Department of Homeland Security contract for a 100,000ft┬▓ data center.
The West Virginian city is being supported by both database security company TTi Technologies and Project BEST (Building Efficiency by Striving Together) a labour-management organization in its effort.
According to TTi, the data center will serve as secondary location to the main data center in Stennis, Mississippi, to store and protect vital government digital information.

The Department of Homeland Security is expected to announce its decision later in the year.
