Data center services provider Terremark Worldwide became one of the winners of Best of VMworld 2010 for its infrastructure-as-a-service offering called Enterprise Cloud. The contest's judges were quoted as saying that Terremark provided security services " that supersede anything IT pros can build in-house."

Terremark's cloud won in the Public/Hybrid Cloud Computing Technologies category, a category for IaaS providers. Other finalists in the category were Skytap Cloud and Microsoft's Windows Azure platform. The contest was held as part of VMworld 2010, VMware's annual conference in San Francisco.

Offerings entered in each category were evaluated on the basis of innovation, value, performance, reliability and usability. The judge team consisted of staff members of searchservervirtualization.com, a virtualization news website.

Winners in the other eight categories included Symantec's NetBackup in the Business Continuity and Data Protection category;VMware's vShield in the Security and Virtualization category;VKernel's Capacity Management Suite in the Virtualization Management category;Cisco's Nexus 7000 Overlay Transport Virtualization in the Hardware for Virtualization category;newScale 9 in the Private Cloud Computing Technologies category;and Veeam's Backup and Replication 5.0 in both New Technology and Best of Show categories.
