Software-focused private equity firm Vista Equity Partners is launching an inference-focused compute platform named Vector Core Compute.

The company, which partnered with early-stage venture capital firm Cambium Capital on the project, described the new venture as an agentic neocloud during its announcement at Intel's Computex keynote.

The platform will use Intel Xeon CPUs, SambaNova RDUs, and Nvidia Blackwell GPUs.

"There's been a huge focus right now to bring AI to enterprises around the globe," Vista CEO Robert Smith said.

"We want to make it usable, we want to make it impactful for the organizations [with which] we work. We have over 90 portfolio companies, and well over half of them have now converted to agentic solutions.

"That's why we've launched Vector Core Compute (VC2) with our partners at Cambium Capital to offer the world's first commercially available architecture for disaggregated inference.

"This novel agentic neocloud is built to deliver the fastest enterprise inference throughput of any architecture to date."

Referring to an earlier demo of a SambaNova system running an agentic inference workload, Smith said that it was "conducted live in our Los Angeles data center." He continued: "We have over 50 deployments planned in the US, which are targeted to convert existing data centers to inference data centers."

Earlier this year, Vista and Cambium invested in AI chip company SambaNova, joining existing investor Intel.

Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan is also chairman of SambaNova, and the company is believed to be looking to further invest in the startup.
