ViaWest, Denver-metro-based provider of data center services in what are often called “tier-two” markets, bought a Las Vegas data center by CoreLink, a provider based in Mount Prospect, Illinois, a Chicago suburb.
The data center gives ViaWest instant access to the Las Vegas market. The company no longer needs to wait until it completes construction of a 100,000-plus-square-foot data center it started there in May.
CoreLink, by selling the facility, is saying goodbye to the Sin City, retaining presence in the Chicago, Phoenix and Seattle markets.
ViaWest chairman and CEO Roy Dimoff said the acquisition supported its goal of becoming a major player in the Las Vegas data center market. “The addition of these assets expands our presence in the Las Vegas market and enhances our base of established customers.”
ViaWest also has data centers in Colorado, Nevada, Oregon, Texas and Utah. Once its newest Vegas facility is complete, the company will be operating about 460,000 sq ft of raised floor total.
