Vertiv has launched a new rack design for AI and high-performance computing (HPC) servers.

The power and cooling vendor described the system, known as Vertiv Rack Extreme, as a “future-ready rack platform” that “supports deep and heavy IT equipment required for next-generation deployments.”

It caters to higher load ratings, deeper configurations, integrated cable management, and is compatible with power and thermal management systems used in data center environments.

“As computing requirements continue to intensify, customers need rack infrastructure designed not just for higher density, but for flexibility, strength, and ease of integration within complex data center environments,” said Ramesh Menon, vice president of IT systems solutions at Vertiv.

“The Vertiv Rack Extreme is engineered to address these requirements by providing a robust platform that supports IT deployments while simplifying installation and long-term scalability.”

The cabinets can handle static and dynamic load ratings of up to 4,500 lbs (2,045 kg). According to Vertiv, traditional rack designs will typically support a smaller load when being moved around a data center than when they are stationary. By maintaining the same load capacity in both conditions, Vertiv Rack Extreme apparently delivers up to 2x higher dynamic capacity and up to 1.3x higher static capacity.

It features fully welded construction, integrated airflow, and cable management - including a high open‑area mesh door and flexible rail systems.

Vertiv has seen its share price rocket in recent years, with the AI boom driving demand for its power and cooling systems. It says the Rack Extreme is compatible with its wider portfolio of UPS, PDU, and liquid cooling products.
