Vertiv is teaming up with Generate Capital, PBC, on a "Bring Your Own Power & Cooling" (BYOP&C) solution for the US data center market.

Vertiv has also announced a new digital twin offering and a double-stack busway system.

Bring your own power, bring your own cooling

The BYOP&C offering aims to help data center operators speed up deployment in power-constrained markets across the US.

The BYOP&C will combine Vertiv's power train, thermal chain, and services capabilities with Generate's infrastructure financing, asset ownership, and operational expertise. According to the companies, the offering will enable data center developers to establish on-site power in the near-term, while keeping the option for utility connection in the long term open.

The offering will initially target North American markets that are currently experiencing grid constraints. The two will explore a variety of configurations, including those with reciprocating engines, turbines, fuel cells, pre-engineered integrated cooling, battery energy storage, and alternative energy systems.

The offering builds on Vertiv's recent collaboration with Caterpillar and Solar Turbines, which also targeted data center operators in power-constrained environments.

Vertiv upgrades digital twin offering, Hut8 is a customer

In other Vertiv news, the company has also evolved its digital twin offering, transitioning it from traditional static modeling to a higher-fidelity platform.

According to the company, this will enable customers to speed up the deployment of its Vertiv OneCore - a modular data center solution - thus scaling AI factories at a more rapid clip.

The upgraded digital twin, instead of using static Building Information Modeling (BIM), leans on a dynamic digital environment built on SimReady assets with Universal Scene Description (OpenUSD) export capabilities.

Among its early adopters is Hut 8, an AI cloud and cryptomining provider, which has adopted the Vertiv OneCore modular solution for "select" data center projects.

Vertiv launches high-capacity double-stack busway system

Vertiv has further announced an addition to the company's PowerBar Track family.

The newcomer is a compact, high-capacity double-stack design that enables higher power density while "optimizing" white-space.

The double-stack busway comes in configurations of up to 2000A under UL standard 857, and up to 2500A for IEC 61439-6 with variants in copper and aluminium conductors.

According to Vertiv, it has been designed with an open-track architecture, which will enable operators to install or relocate tap-off boxes anywhere along the busway while maintaining active load distribution, and each connection point includes built-in mechanical and electrical interlocks.

The busway can integrate with Vertiv's PowerBoard Switchgear, UPS systems, and racks, and can also work with Vertiv's OneCore and Smart Run modular offerings.
