QTS data center in Atlanta gets LEED Gold Colocation services provider QTS received a LEED Gold certification for its mega-data center in the Atlanta metropolitan area. The company bought the 990,000 sq ft facility in 2007, after which it implemented a number of measures to increase its energy efficiency.
These included collecting rainwater to supplement water supply for the cooling system among other improvements, which collectively reduced the data center’s Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) by 11.4%. Trading DR provider joins Telx FBX Trading Continuity Services (TCS), a company that provides disaster recovery and business continuity services to the financial-services industry, has taken space at Telx’s data center in downtown Chicago.
TCS joined the data center provider’s Financial Business Exchange (FBX), which enabled it to sell its services to Telx’s financial-services customers who are also members of the exchange.
This access spreads across all 15 of Telx’s data centers around the US. Green House Data’s data center to use 100% free cooling Cloud hosting and colocation services provider Green House Data announced a plan to build a second data center in Wyoming. Once complete, the project will double its data center capacity, bringing it to 4.5MW. Green House Data’s first data center is powered solely by wind energy.
The second facility will use 100% free cooling, the company says. This will be achieved by using a combination of outside-air cooling and evaporative cooling. The facility’s design includes a number of energy-saving features, including segregation of hot and cold aisles. Atlantic.net expands geographic reach Hosting company Atlantic.net has added five locations to its US data center footprint.
The new locations are in Dallas, New York, Phoenix, Los Angeles, Orlando and Chicago. According to its website, the company also has presence in Atlanta. In addition to hosting, Atlantic.net provides colocation and virtualization services, as well as Cloud-based services.
