Carrier to Carrier expands US presence through Telx data center
Netherlands-based provider of telecommunications services Carrier to Carrier Telecom has leased space from data center and interconnection service provider Telx in its New York facility at 60 Hudson St. The client company's General Manager Kees Jan Mink attributed the choice to the data center's carrier-neutrality and its good "strategic" position for trans-Atlantic connectivity.
The New York data center provides its own point of presence in the US market to C2C, which until recently has only had POP's in Amsterdam, London and Biddinghuizen, the Netherlands. The site provides the customer with optimized routing for North America, Europe and Africa.
Equinix celebrates 10 years since IPO by ringing opening bell at Nasdaq
Head of the colocation and interconnection service provider Equinix rang the opening bell at Nasdaq on 11 August, celebrating the 10th anniversary of the company's shares being listed on one of the largest US stock exchanges. Equinix President and CEO Steve Smith, who kicked off the trading day, said the company's ability to execute to plan has allowed its clients to expand their offerings, a value reflected in Equinix's own growth.
According to a news release, the data center provider is on target to exceed $1bn in revenue in 2010, having recently completed the 30th consecutive quarter of growth.
HP hires C-level exec away from AMD
HP has hired the CIO of Advanced Micro Devices away from the chip maker to join its top technical executive team. Ahmed Mahmoud will become HP's SVP of global information technology, leaving his most recent role as SVP and CIO at AMD.
Mahmoud will lead HP's IT teams responsible for its hp.com, e-commerce and marketing organizations. Before joining AMD, he has spent 13 years at Dell, filling a variety of IT management positions. He came to Dell from Eastman Kodak, where he worled as an Oracle database administrator.
CoreLink expands Phoenix data center
Data center service provider CoreLink Data Centers has completed expansion of it data center in Phoenix, Arizona. The facility now offers 500kW of capacity. Its President Michael Duckett said new capacity would support new customers and improve scalability and flexibility for existing ones.
In addition to Phoenix, CoreLink's home city, the company has data centers in Seattle, Las Vegas and Chicago. The company is backed by Boston-based investment firm M/C Venture Partners.
Rackspace launches cloud servers for Windows
Hosting service provider Rackspace has launched a new cloud-based product called Cloud Servers for Windows. The company says the product is scalable and works well for Windows-based hosting, testing and developing applications and supporting high levels of traffic required for online gaming or social networking platforms.
Rackspace designed the offering for small and medium businesses, .Net developers, system administrators and IT professionals.
