Owners put large New York carrier hotel on sale for $2bn
Owners of the 15-story carrier hotel at 111 8th Ave. in New York have put the building up for sale, setting the price at about $2bn, reported the New York Times. The facility is the fourth-largest office building in the city, measuring about three million square feet. 

The building is home to a multitude of network carriers and some of the largest data center providers in the world, including Digital Realty Trust, Equinix and Telx. Its current owners are Taconic Investment Partners, the New York State Common Retirement Fund and a German investor called Jamestown.

New data center and technology park opens in Philadelphia
A new $25m data center was launched Tuesday in Philadelphia. The 25,700-sq-ft facility is part of the new Philadelphia Technology Park, which opened its doors this week to serve companies, universities and not-for-profit organizations located I the region. The technology park was built on the site of a former Navy yard. 

Intel invests in Adaptive Computing and Joyent
Adaptive Computing, a Utah-based maker of automation software for data centers, including high-performance computing and cloud environments, has received a capital injection from Intel's investment arm called Intel Capital. According to an Intel statement, Adaptive was one of four vendors to receive parts of the chipmaker's recent $30m investment. 

The other three companies are semiconductor company Ciranova, cloud-based infrastructure and platform provider Joyent and smart-grid technology company Nexant. 

Internap expands Houston data center
Provider of data center services Internap has brought online an additional 5,000 sq ft of data center space at its facility in Houston. Mike Higgins, Internap's SVP of data center services, said the company expected demand for data center services to continue to grow in the Houston market, which includes "data-intensive" industries like financial-service and energy companies. 

Paetec launches new Houston data center
Provider of network services Paetec has launched a new data center in Houston. The 2,200-sq-ft facility will be used to serve customers in Houston, as well as those in San Antonio, Austin and Dallas by the end of the year, according to a Paetec statement. 

The data center is located within the provider's central office, adding to its existing data center capacity in Pennsylvania and Massachusetts. New locations are slated to open in Wisconsin and Arizona by the end of the year. 

Level 3 commences $175m securities offering
Provider of network services Level 3 has announced an offering of $175m in securities, underwritten by a group of financial institutions, including Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Citigroup, Deutsche Bank and Morgan Stanley. Level 3 said in a statement it would use proceeds from the sale for "general corporate purposes", including working capital, capital expenditures and potential repurchase of securities sold previously. 

The company expects to complete the offering sometime in September.
