A newly formed San Francisco company called Rubicon announced a plan to build a massive data center campus in Reno, Nevada, a second major data center development in the area announced this year.
Together with developer Prologis, Rubicon is planning to start with a 20MW, 300,000 sq ft facility in the Tahoe-Reno Industrial Center. The vision includes data center suites for both enterprise customers and retail-colocation providers.
Reno has some of the lowest energy rates in the US, and Rubicon said it would deliver an average rate of US$0.045 per kWh. The other major data center construction project happening in the area is Apple’s 15MW build in Reno Technology Park.
